Frequently Asked Questions
Where did the name ELSIE BINX come from?
When Kevin and Erin first started working on this project in 2015, it was going to be a one-off solo record of Erin's. ELSIE BINX was to be her stage name.
'ELSIE' comes from Erin's middle name, Elise. Both Elise and Elsie are family names on her maternal side. She always liked Elsie better so she knew that would be the first name.
'BINX' comes from the film character 'Thackery Binx' in Disney's Hocus Pocus (1993). Many other names were workshopped like Fox, Mars, Crow... But they were all taken in some way or another. Erin's mom actually suggested 'Binx' and after doing the research on it's availability, that's what we went with!
Now, the name has become the name of the group, and Erin has detached from using it as a stage name.
How long has this lineup been in place?
In 2018, Darin and Tom joined the band. In 2020, Tom had to leave for family reasons and Phil took his place on bass.
When will you put out new original music?
We have to take a break from releasing originals after "Wild Shit" for the next year or so as we are being shopped around to record labels currently. We have to have new unreleased music recorded and ready in case we get an offer to sign. We are still writing and have many new songs on the pipeline if/when that happens!
We do plan on releasing some cover tunes in the meantime.
Who does your artwork?
Our first 2 records were designed by Tyler DePerro.
Many of our other records have designs by Melanie Mercadente (Nopesetic), Lauren Hedges and Trish Wanamaker.
When do you stream on Twitch?
We stream on Twitch every Thursday night from 7-10p/et. We rehearse, write, plan and chat with everyone who joins!
